Configuring Plesk backups

Schedule automatic backups in Plesk, choose their content and storage destination, and restore a complete site.

Creating a manual backup

From the Backups section, the "Back up" button immediately starts a complete backup of the selected domain: files, databases, mail accounts and configuration.

Scheduling automatic backups

The Schedule backups option sets a recurring frequency (daily, weekly, monthly) with no manual intervention. It's the most reliable protection against accidental data loss.

Choosing what the backup contains

A backup can be restricted to certain elements only (files alone, databases alone) rather than always being complete — useful to reduce the storage space used when some elements rarely change.

Where backups are stored

By default, backups are stored on the hosting's own disk space. If external storage is configured (remote FTP, a compatible cloud storage), backups can be sent there automatically — recommended so you don't depend solely on the same server in the event of serious hardware failure.

Restoring a backup

From the list of available backups, select the one to restore and choose which elements to restore (everything, or only files, or only databases). Restoring overwrites the current state of the selected elements with the backup's.
