Installing WordPress in one click

Install WordPress from the Plesk application catalogue, secure the installation and manage automatic updates.

Updated

Installing WordPress

From Websites & Domains, select the target domain then Application installer. WordPress is among the catalogue's most used applications.

  1. Search for "WordPress" in the catalogue.
  2. Choose the installation folder (the domain root, or a subfolder if you want to keep the root free for something else).
  3. Enter the site title, the administrator username and password.
  4. Start the installation.

Plesk automatically creates the required database and configures WordPress to connect to it — no manual database configuration needed for a standard installation.

Securing the installation

Once WordPress is installed, a few basic security habits:

  • Change the default table prefixes if the installer hasn't already.
  • Install a well-known security extension (login attempt limiting, application firewall).
  • Keep WordPress, themes and plugins up to date — most compromises exploit flaws already fixed in a newer version.

Automatic updates

The Plesk application installer offers an automatic update option for WordPress (core, and plugins depending on the configuration). Enable it if you'd rather not handle updates manually, bearing in mind that an automatic update of a third-party plugin can occasionally cause a conflict — a regular backup remains the best protection against that risk.

Reaching the WordPress admin

The administration interface is available at yourdomain.com/wp-admin, with the credentials set at installation. A direct shortcut is also available from Plesk, in the installed application's detail.
