Getting to know the Plesk interface

Getting started with the Plesk dashboard: domains, databases, mail, backups, and where to find each key feature.

Updated

Signing in to Plesk

Plesk is reached through the URL supplied when your hosting was activated, with the credentials sent by email. That address differs from the Artaun Hosting client area: Plesk handles the technical hosting, the client area handles billing and orders.

The dashboard

Once signed in, the dashboard shows a summary of your hosting subscription: active domains, disk space used, traffic, and shortcuts to the most-used features.

The left sidebar gives access to the main sections:

  • Websites & Domains: managing hosted domains and subdomains;
  • Mail: creating and managing email accounts;
  • Databases: creating and administering MySQL/MariaDB databases;
  • Files: the built-in file manager and FTP access;
  • Backups: creating and restoring full backups.

Plesk extensions

Some features (automatic SSL certificates, performance tuning, hardened security) come as extensions, installable from the Extensions catalogue without leaving the interface.

Changing the interface language

The Plesk interface language (distinct from the hosted site's language) is changed from the profile icon at the top right — handy when several people with different languages administer the same account.
